CONDITIONS
ON EARTH
DURING
THESE LAST DAYS
We are living in “the last time”, “the last days”, “these
last times”. Since Christ has come and personally and
literally paid for all the sins of all humanity by the
sacrifice of Himself on the cross of Calvary and then
rose again from the dead we are now in “the last time”,
“the last days”, in “these last times”. One day, at the
rapture and the resurrection, Jesus will come in the air
for all of His children, including His true churches, and
this present church age will end.
Those raptured and those resurrected will then be given
new glorious bodies and will stand before the judgment
seat of Christ, be judged by Him and given eternal
rewards based on their works done in their natural
bodies during their earthly lives.
On earth, during the time the judgment of the children of
God and other events are taking place in heaven, there
will be the tribulation, in which the man, antichrist, will
rule and be worshipped by many for a short time. Then
Jesus will come back to this earth and establish His
everlasting kingdom. Jesus will rule all nations of the
earth as "KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS". He will
rule for one thousand years on this earth, then burn
it up and create new heavens and a new earth.
We should know what the Lord tells us about the times
that we are currently living in and respond to them in a
scriptural manner. We should not be surprised, caught
off guard, as these things are occurring. The Lord
has told us aforetime in His Word. We are to be eagerly
anticipating the Lord’s coming for us and taking us
home, while we are presently taking the gospel of Christ to the
lost in this world. Jesus'coming for us may be closer than we think.
I. Scriptural Proof That We Are in the Last Time, The Last
Days, These Last Times:
-“Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard
that antichrist shall come, even now are there many
antichrists; whereby know that it is the last time”
(I John 2:18). This would have been inspired of God and
written prior to about 100 A.D.
-“And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I
will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons
and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young
men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream
dreams:” (Acts 2:17). This was fulfilled on the day of
Pentecost after Jesus’ resurrection. We have been in
“the last days” for many years.
-“God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake
in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, Hath in
these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom
he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he
made the worlds;” (Hebrews 1:1, 2). This was over
2,000 years ago, when Jesus was physically upon the
earth.
-“But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb
without blemish and without spot: Who verily was
foreordained before the foundation of the world, but
was manifest in these last times for you” (I Peter 1:19,
20).
-There is ample scriptural proof that today we are in the
last days of this present church age.
II. Some of The Conditions in The Last Time, The Last
Days, These Last Times, in Which We Are In:
-These conditions are not new. These have been
occurring for many years. But the frequency and the
intensity of these will continue to increase until the
Lord comes. These conditions are like a woman with
child and the labor pains she experiences when
childbirth is near, the frequency and intensity of the
labor pains increase.
(A). I John 2:18 (see above). The spirit of antichrist is
present. Liars and deceivers are present today who
deny that Jesus is the Christ and deny the Father. There
are those that deny that Jesus Christ is come in the
flesh (cf. I John 2:22, 4:3; II John 7).
(B). II Timothy 3:1-7:
“This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall
come. [Perilous: grievous, difficult, dangerous, fierce]
For men shall be
lovers of their own selves, [This explains so much of
what we see and hear in this world today. Self-lovers.
Selfish. Self-centeredness. This is the very opposite of
denying one’s self as the Lord commands. Many are
taught today that each person is “Number one”, when
actually Jesus is to be Number one (cf. Luke 9:23)]
covetous, [Money-lovers; lovers of silver; (cf. I Timothy
6:9, 10)]
boasters, [braggarts; empty pretender; (cf. Psalm 10:3;
James 4:16)]
proud, [arrogant; haughty; self-promoting; (cf. James 4:6;
I Peter 5:5)]
blasphemers, [to speak evil of the Lord or of holy things;
impious toward God; railers; using the Lord’s name in
profanity (cf. Leviticus 24:11-16)]
disobedient to parents, [even children are involved;
violates Exodus 20:12; (cf. Ephesians 6:1-3; Colossians
3:20)]
unthankful, [ungrateful; thankless; (cf. Luke 17:12-19;
I Thessalonians 5:18)]
unholy, [wicked; not living a separated life unto the Lord;
living worldly, carnally]
Without natural affection, [hard-hearted toward
kindred; not having affections toward those that they
should have; homosexuals]
trucebreakers, [don’t keep their word; covenant-
breaker; don’t honor contracts they make, etc.]
false accusers, [slanderer; as the devil]
incontinent, [without self-control over sinful desires,
over speech, over behaviour]
fierce, [savage; not tame; wild; behaves as a beast;
(cf. II Peter 2:12; Jude 10)]
despisers of those that are good, [Jesus was despised;
haters of those who follow the Lord and His truth and
are doing good works]
Traitors, [betrayers; those you thought you could trust
turn against you]
heady, [headstrong; acting rash; reckless]
highminded, [lifted up in pride; conceited; puffed-up]
lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; [(cf.
Matthew 22:37; Mark 12:30)]
Having a form of godliness, [has an outward appearance
only, no inward change by the Spirit; has an outward
shape without the reality; religious, but not saved (cf.
Titus 1:16; I John 2:4)]
but denying the power thereof: [(cf. Romans 1:16;
I Corinthians 1:18, 24)]
from such turn away. [this is what our response is to be;
a command; God’s children are not to take part in these
kinds of lifestyles.]
For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and
lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away
with divers lusts, [immorality; living together outside
of marriage]
Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge
of the truth.” [intellectuals; these may have much
worldly and/or religious learning and education,
multiple degrees, but do not have the indwelling Holy
Spirit; they are not saved; (cf. Jude 19; I Corinthians
2:11, 14)]
(C). Matthew 24:4-12, 23-26
“And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed
that no man deceive you. For many shall come in my
name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.
And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see
that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come
to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation shall rise
against nation, and kingdom against kingdom:
and there shall be famines,
and pestilences, [various diseases]
and earthquakes, in divers places.
All these are the beginning of sorrows. Then shall
they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you:
and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's
sake. And then shall many be offended, and shall
betray one another, and shall hate one another.
And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive
many. And because iniquity shall abound, the love of
many shall wax cold.
…
Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ,
or there; believe it not. For there shall arise false
Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs
and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they
shall deceive the very elect. Behold, I have told you
before. Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold,
he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the
secret chambers; believe it not.”
